50 Football Quiz Questions With Answers

Test your football knowledge with 50 questions across rules, World Cups, EURO finals and Champions League winners. Five rounds with separate answer keys.

These 50 football quiz questions with answers cover association football, also called soccer, not American football. There are five rounds of ten: rules, men's World Cup history, men's EURO finals, men's Champions League winners and Women's World Cup history.

Write your answers before opening each round's answer key. You can use the page for a solo challenge, read the questions aloud to friends or run a small team quiz. Tournament questions name specific years rather than relying on changing records or current club transfers.

How to run the quiz

Award one point per question, for a total of 50. For the co-host question, require both countries for the point. Accept recognizable names and the alternatives listed in the answers; accents and minor spelling errors should not decide a friendly spoken quiz.

Ask players to put search engines away until the answers are revealed. A host can allow about 20-30 seconds per question, or read one complete round and give teams a few minutes to compare answers. These are suggested house rules, not an automatic scoring system on this page.

For beginners, play the rules round first and let teams discuss freely. For mixed groups, pair casual fans with more experienced players rather than letting one person answer every question. Keep the answer keys collapsed if this page is visible on a shared screen.

Mark the answers without turning it into an argument

Read out each answer and settle any naming questions before moving on. Manchester on its own is ambiguous when the answer is Manchester United or Manchester City. Inter Milan is a clear alternative to Inter; Milan alone normally means AC Milan. Use the same standard for every team.

If a question produces a genuine dispute, check the linked official reference. A fair host can remove that question for everyone rather than invent a new interpretation to favour one team. The references support the historical facts; these quiz questions and the hosting format are our own.

Record a score out of 50, but also note your strongest round. Someone who knows every World Cup final may know less about goal dimensions or club finals. This is a selection of topics, not a measurement of whether someone is a "real fan."

Turn football knowledge into the next game

For two people on one phone, Guess the Football Player changes the challenge from remembering a fact to asking useful yes/no questions about a secret footballer. Start with familiar players and choose the same difficulty expectations before the round.

If you enjoy linking players to teams and categories, try Football Tic-Tac-Toe. It rewards finding a valid player for the intersection of two categories while also planning a line on the board. Read the grid-game guide first if the format is new to you.

For a group of three or more, Football Imposter uses football knowledge differently: players give clues while a hidden participant tries to blend in. Knowing more facts does not automatically make your clues better. A clue must be understandable to the group without revealing the secret too directly.

Football quiz questions

Are these easy or hard football questions?

The first round is a basic rules warm-up. Later rounds mix familiar champions with older finals and specific goalscorers. Use only one or two rounds for a short beginner quiz, or all five for a broader challenge.

Can I play without a quiz host?

Yes. Read a round, write your ten answers, then open its answer key. For two players, answer independently before checking together. Keep score on paper or in your own notes; this article does not store results.

Does the quiz include women's football?

Yes. The final ten questions cover Women's World Cup winners, hosts and the 2023 final. The men's competitions are identified explicitly in their round headings so answers are not ambiguous.

Why are the questions tied to years?

"Who won the 2023 final?" has a stable answer. "Who are the champions?" changes over time. Dated questions make a saved quiz usable again without treating an old answer as a current record.
