How This Imposter Game Works
Find the Imposter is a free imposter game for 3 or more players. Everyone gets the same secret word except the imposter, who has to bluff through the round with a one-word clue. Play pass-and-play on a single phone, or create an online room and play together from anywhere, no download or sign-up required.
It's part of the same social deduction family as Mafia, Werewolf, and Spyfall, a favorite for game nights, parties, family get-togethers, and quick icebreakers with coworkers or a new group of friends. There's nothing to set up beyond opening the page, everyone just needs a phone or a device to share.
Pass & Play (one device)

Your first imposter word game: keep the clues simple
Start with one imposter, a familiar word category and the regular clue round before adding Chaos options. If the secret word were pizza, a clue such as oven connects to it without naming it; food is broader and gives the group less to discuss. Avoid saying the answer or translating it directly. After everyone speaks, compare the meaning of the clues rather than deciding only by confidence or hesitation. New players may simply need time to think.
Choose a classic round, Football Imposter or Undercover
Classic mode leaves the imposter without the secret word. Football Imposter uses the same setup with football-player categories, so agree that everyone knows the chosen topic. Undercover gives the hidden side a related but different word; compare clues rather than assuming everyone saw the same answer. Keep the optional Mr. White role for a group that understands its separate last-chance guess. The game pages below explain each variant before you launch it. How does the imposter win?
In classic mode, the imposter wins when the crew fails to identify them or accuses an innocent player. Mr. White in Undercover has a separate last-chance word guess; that rule does not apply to an ordinary classic imposter.
What's the difference between Undercover Mode and classic mode?
In classic mode the imposter gets no word at all. In Undercover Mode the imposter secretly gets a different but related word instead, making the bluffing much subtler.
Who is Mr. White?
Mr. White is an Undercover Mode sub-role who gets no word at all, not even a related one. If Mr. White is voted out, they get one chance to guess the secret word and steal the win for their team.
Is Find the Imposter similar to Among Us or Spyfall?
It's closer to Spyfall than Among Us: no map, tasks, or graphics, just clues, discussion, and voting between real people. Like Among Us, one player is secretly working against the group, but the whole game plays out through conversation, not gameplay mechanics.
Can I play with friends who aren't in the same room?
Yes, create an online room, share the code, and everyone joins live from their own device, no matter where they are.
Does the number of imposters change every round?
You choose 1 to 3 imposters per game, or turn on Random Imposters to have the count change every round.
