What is Football Bingo?

Football Bingo is a free solo football quiz played on a 4x4 bingo card. Each of the 16 squares is a football category: a club like Real Madrid, a national team like Brazil, a league like the Premier League, a trophy like the Champions League, a manager like Pep Guardiola or a fact like left-footed. Footballers appear one at a time and you decide where each one goes. Fill every square and you have bingo. It runs in your browser on phone, tablet and computer, with no download and no account.

Example: Luka Modric appears. He fits Croatia, Real Madrid and Champions League winner. Put him on the square that is hardest to fill with someone else, and keep the easy squares for later players.

How to play Football Bingo

1. 01

   Read the footballer

   A footballer appears above the card. Think about his clubs, his national team, his trophies and his managers.

2. 02

   Tap a matching square

   Tap a square he fits. A right answer fills the square. A wrong square costs one of your 3 lives and the next player comes up.

3. 03

   Skip or use the wildcard

   Skip a footballer you cannot place (5 skips per card). The wildcard puts the current player on every open square he fits, once per card.

Step by step

1. Open the game and choose Daily card or Random card. The card on screen is the card you will play.
2. Press Play. The first footballer appears above the card with his shirt number. A card deals up to 25 footballers.
3. Look for a square he fits: one of his clubs, his country, a league he played in, a trophy he won, a manager he played under or a fact about him.
4. Tap that square. If he fits, his shirt fills it. If he does not, the square stays open and you lose one of your 3 lives.
5. Cannot place him? Press Skip (5 per card), or play your one Wildcard on a big name to fill every open square he fits at once.
6. Keep going until all 16 squares are filled for BINGO, or until your third mistake ends the card. Then share your result or start a new card.

Football Bingo rules

You get 3 lives, 5 skips and 1 wildcard. Each footballer can only fill one square, unless you play the wildcard on him. The game ends with BINGO when all 16 squares are filled, or when you lose your third life. Your result shows the squares filled, your time and your mistakes.

Daily card, streaks and unlimited cards

A new daily card arrives every day at 00:00 UTC and it is the same for everyone, so you can compare your time and mistakes with friends. Win the daily card on consecutive days to build a streak: your current streak and your best streak are saved on your device. Already played today? The page shows your result and a countdown to the next card. When one card a day is not enough, start a random card. There is no limit, and random cards never touch your streak. Every card is checked before you play: the footballers you will see can always complete it.

The categories on the card

There are 144 categories in six families, and every card mixes several of them, so you need more than one kind of football knowledge. The players come from the same checked football database as our Football Tic-Tac-Toe game.

• Clubs

  63 clubs, from Barcelona, Liverpool, Juventus and Boca Juniors to Sampdoria and Feyenoord. A player fits if he played for the club.

• National teams

  Countries such as France, Argentina, England, Brazil and Croatia. A player fits the country he played for.

• Leagues

  The Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, the Eredivisie, the Saudi league, MLS and more. He fits if he played in that league.

• Trophies and awards

  Champions League, World Cup, Copa America, the Euros, domestic titles and cups, the Ballon d'Or and top-scorer awards.

• Managers

  Played under Sir Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Jurgen Klopp, Arsene Wenger and others.

• Football facts

  Goalkeeper, left-footed, born in the 90s, scored in a World Cup final, treble winner, played in three of the big five leagues.

Football Bingo tips

A good card is won before the last player shows up. These habits save lives and skips.

• Fill the rare squares first. A club like Sampdoria or a fact like Goalkeeper has few possible players, while Champions League winner fits many stars.
• When a player fits two open squares, use him on the harder one and leave the easy one for later.
• Keep the wildcard for a superstar with many clubs and trophies. Played on the right name, it can fill three or four squares at once.
• Save skips for players who only fit squares that are already filled. A skip costs nothing else, a wrong tap costs a life.
• Not sure about a league or a manager? Skip. Three lives go fast, and the card can always be completed with the players still to come.

Football Bingo vs Football Tic-Tac-Toe

Both games use the same football categories, but they test you in different ways. In Football Tic-Tac-Toe you name a player who fits two categories at once. In Football Bingo the game gives you the player and you find the right square.
